Oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) is caused by aberrant collagen deposition in the oral mucosa. A chronic, creeping, scarring disease of cavity often involving pharynx and upper oesophagus how it's been described for centuries. It most dangerous premalignant condition evolve into malignant tumours 1.5% to 15% cases. found primarily India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh. Submucous fibrosis, ulceration, xerostomia, a burning feeling, restricted opening mouth are some signs symptoms look out for. patient's quality life severely affected all these factors. Chewing on areca nuts significant source danger. Efforts improve management have ongoing due disease's high mortality transformation rate, respectively. Understanding precise involvement etiological agents pathogenesis will aid therapy methods. From molecular standpoint, this paper provides an overview background OSF, including its underlying processes, diagnostic biomarkers, options. Prevention OSF just as crucial rigorous therapy. For future studies be effective, health literacy has improved among people at risk OSF.
